..
I finally edited a video I'd procrastinated on for so long, and mehn, I could finally breatheeee. The relief I felt was unmatched. And I discovered something: the problem was never my ability to edit videos. It was fear.
I was so scared that it crippled me. I was initially excited to edit, but then I encountered a major issue. One I knew very well how to fix, but somehow, I kept stalling. Days turned into a week, and with each passing day, it became increasingly difficult to pick up my phone and just do the damn thing.
You see, yesterday, I promised myself I was going to get it done, but things got in the way. So, when I woke up this morning, I decided to do something crazy. I was going to give myself an ultimatum: no food until the video was ready.
For somebody who loves food, guyyyy, it was VERY difficult. Before 12 pm, I was already hungry, and the video barely looked ready. But I sat there and kept going until 6 pm, when the video was finally ready. And honestly, I felt grand. Not just because the video was done, but because I had set my heart on something and actually followed through.
That's how I spent practically the whole day editing one video because the deadline was tomorrow, using the one thing I absolutely loved, food, as my motivation.
Dearest reader, I wonder how many things we've convinced ourselves we're incapable of doing simply because we're afraid to try. How many times have we mistaken fear for incompetence, or procrastination for a lack of ability?
Sometimes, the task itself isn't as difficult as we've made it in our heads, it's the anticipation of getting it wrong, encountering another problem, or having to figure things out that keeps us stuck.
And the longer we stay away from it, the bigger it becomes in our minds.
So, maybe the next time you find yourself putting something off, ask yourself: Am I genuinely unable to do this, or am I just afraid to find out that I can?
And you could use my food trick and thank me later, it doesn't even have to be food, tie the very task you're scared of to something you absolutely love.
Alright bye.
