LESS THAN ONE.

There are days when my arms are too heavy to hold a pen, my brain too disorganized to put a sentence together, my thoughts an unending swirl of emotions.

But then there are days—days when my smile can break through your screen, invade your life, and steal alongside your heart. Days when my excitement can be likened to that of a 2-year-old, where my inquisitiveness and curiosity know no bounds.

Well, today is the latter. But like a poet I love once said, "Even if the light's turned on and my fears are not gone, I'll give it my best shot because the show must go on."

So, I'd like to talk about something today: the idea of "LESS THAN ONE." But before we dive into this, allow me to tell you a story.

*****

Once upon a time, I had a friend. You know that feeling of being friends with the girl every guy wants, so you get a lot of "Please help me talk to your friend"?

In school, we had our lunch bought by different guys each day—one of the perks of having a beautiful friend. However, these guys greatly feared her because she projected an unapproachable aura and was notorious for turning people down in the most painful ways. But no one could touch her because she was also very intelligent and every teacher's favorite.

One day, a particular boy decided to try his luck because, as they say, "If we don't try, we will never know." He spoke to me first, and I assured him to go ahead.

My friend's response to his proposal was, "The possibility of us working out is less than 1." The boy walked away, depressed, and never spoke to either of us again.

I’m sure you're wondering where this story is leading. Well, the point is, in mathematics, the probability of two events occurring is 1, and less than 1 is not zero. There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1—0.99, 0.98, 0.9999, and so on.

Of all the guys asking her out, he actually had a chance, only if he had understood simple laws of mathematics.

Dearest reader, mathematics is nature's language. Seek to understand, rather than letting your emotions get the best of you.

I hope you learned from my story, and thank you for being a listening ear. I feel a lot better now.
