So my church has this really cool program we do yearly. It’s called the Feast of Horns (FOH), and it’s beautiful in so many ways.

For starters, it’s a 50 day program where we get to write prayer requests, which are submitted at the altar and prayed over each day for the entire 50 days. Then, on the last day of the feast, the prayer requests are burnt.

How cool is that?

Now, the fun thing about the prayer cards is that you get two. You submit one and keep the duplicate, so when God starts answering your prayers, you have evidence.

It’s FOH season, and I was given my prayer cards today. While writing my requests for this year, I decided to check my card from last year.

And honestly, I had no idea just how much of it had been answered.

Dearest reader, why am I telling you this?

One of two things.

First, the importance of keeping track. You have no idea how much you’ve grown because you’re not tracking your goals, your prayers, your little wins, or even the things you once desperately wanted.

Sometimes, you’re so focused on what hasn’t happened that you completely miss everything that has.

Two, it’s such a beautiful thing to be grateful.

You think there’s nothing awesome about your life? Nothing worth being happy about? Think again.

Life gets harder, yes. There are still things we’re praying for, things we’re waiting on, things we wish were different. But you’re doing so much better than you realize.

And sometimes, all it takes is flipping open an old journal, scrolling through old pictures, reading an old note or, in my case, finding an old prayer card, to realise just how far God has brought you.
