...

I posted a poetry video today, and when I watched it again, I felt so proud.

Not because it was the first time I was reciting those lines in front of a camera, but because this time was so much better.

It made me think back to my first attempt at the exact same poem, about a year ago. I made that video when I had just started putting myself out there, and honestly, it was scary. But I still did it. I recorded it, and I posted it.

It wasn’t perfect, it was just me at that time. I showed up the best way I knew how.

And recently, I’ve been doing so much better. I’m not where I want to be yet, but the facial expressions that used to be my biggest struggle for the longest time are finally improving.

Going back to find that first video and watching it again was such an emotional moment for me because damn,,, girl, you’ve improved so much.

So why am I saying this?

If you’re shy, this is your sign to put yourself out there. Nobody really sends you like that. And even if they laugh at your first attempt, the good thing is, you’ll get better as long as you keep trying.

Just keep showing up, the results will speak for you. I saw somewhere that volume negates luck, meaning the people who get it right are not always lucky, they’ve simply put in enough work to attract the results they want.

So dearest reader, show up the best way you know how to at the moment, you’ll evolve, you’ll grow, and you’ll get better with time.

Showing up doesn’t require perfection. Just be authentically you. And know this; there’s never a perfect time to take what you care about seriously, other than right now.
