“Leave everything on the field.” ~

When I say I’ve missed my church, I’m not even exaggerating. Today’s service was honestly such a breath of fresh air. We watched a movie titled Facing the Giants and it was really good, but let me tell you, the energy in that place? Solid.

The vibe was actually vibe-ing. It’s the way everybody would shout “GOAL!” whenever the team in the movie scored. It wasn’t that boring cinema setting where everyone is just quietly staring at the screen. It felt like we were all in it together, like we were part of the match. And honestly, that made it ten times more enjoyable. That right there is why I love my church. That real togetherness, that family kind of vibe.

Anyways, back to the movie. As it played, one thing that really stood out to me was something the coach said before one of the games. He was motivating them to give it their best shot, reminding them that God had their back. And when the game started looking like they were going to lose, he told them, “Leave everything on the field.”

In other words, let it be known that you fought like your life depended on it. Because it’s one thing to lose, but it’s another whole kind of pain to lose and still feel like you didn’t even try hard enough. Like you could’ve pushed more. Like you could’ve shown up better. That kind of regret stings like mad.

And I think that’s the part that hit me the most. Not even just in sports, but in life. In relationships, in goals, in opportunities, in prayer, in purpose. Sometimes the real heartbreak isn’t that things didn’t work out, it’s realizing that you didn’t give it your all. You held back. You doubted yourself. You played safe. You didn’t fully show up.

Because at the end of the day, even if the outcome isn’t what you wanted, there’s peace in knowing you truly tried. There’s pride in knowing you gave your best. There’s confidence in knowing that if it didn’t work, it wasn’t because you were lazy, fearful, or halfhearted. You left everything on the field.

Dearest reader, whatever you’re doing right now, whatever you’re chasing, building, praying for, or healing from, show up fully. Give it your best shot. Fight well. Love well. Try well. So that no matter the result, you’ll be able to look back and say, “At least I gave it everything I had.”
