In the words of PIE, “David had resume.”

Yes, it sounds funny but think about it well. Oga was not just allowed to enter the battlefield to fight a giant based on vibes or “I just feel like I can do it.”

When he stood before Saul, he said, “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.”

That was not empty confidence, it was experience speaking. David had history.

He did not just say, “Trust me.” He said, “I have done hard things before.”

If we bring it to real life statistics, killing a bear or a lion with bare hands is almost impossible. The survival rate of a human in an unarmed fight with a bear is almost zero. Most people who survive bear attacks survive because the bear eventually stops, not because they overpowered it.

It had to be a collaboration between divine intervention and uncommon boldness. God showed up, yes. But David also showed up.

And that part is important.

Pastor Irene said something very profound. He said, “David presented Saul with his resume and presented God to Goliath.”

Read that again.

To Saul, David spoke about his experience. To Goliath, David spoke about his God.

He knew where to place what.

He did not go to Saul and say, “God will do it,” without any personal track record. And he did not go to Goliath and start listing achievements. He knew that his skill got him to the battlefield, but his God would win the battle.

There is a balance there that many of us miss.

Dearest reader, yes, God has your back. But are you building capacity? Are you learning? Are you practicing? Are you growing? What are you doing in your small fields before the big stage calls your name?

Beyond grace, what are you capable of?

What are you skilled at? What makes up your CV? If opportunity stands before you like Saul, what can you present? If a giant stands before you like Goliath, what can you confidently rely on?

Because God amplifies effort. He does not anoint laziness. He multiplies what you bring. Five loaves and two fishes were still required before the miracle happened.
