THE RIGHT HABITS.
“There’s nothing you can’t do, if you get the habits right.” ~ X
In the words of William James, all our life, so far as it has definite form, is but a mass of habits.
Pause small.
Do you know that your decisions and even your indecisions are mostly built on your habits?
It sounds wild, but it is true. You may think you are making well informed decisions or even terrible ones, but most times you are simply following a familiar pathway. A habit.
The conversation about habits is very interesting to me because, well, I can be such a lazy person. I like easy ways. I like small tricks that help me get the job done without stressing too much. And that curiosity led me to really think about habits and how important they are in our lives.
Think about it this way. Everything in this world is made up of atoms. Atoms are the basic and simplest unit of any element. That is exactly how habits work. They are the basic unit of behaviour. They quietly build our personality, our lifestyle, and eventually, our destiny.
Why you make the decisions you make is influenced by your consistent habits that now feel like muscle memory. Why you do certain things without thinking. Why you struggle to quit some things you do not even like. It is the accumulation of habits that led you there.
Habits compound. And just like compound interest, the results are powerful. If it is a good habit, over time you will love the outcome. But when a negative habit compounds? It becomes a disaster before you even realize what is happening.
Dearest reader, once you fix your habits, you can fix your life. It really is that simple. The real work is not in trying to do everything at once. The real work is in questioning your consistent habits. They drive your decisions. They influence your life. They shape your personality.
Because it is true what they say. You are not what you say you will do. You are what you do consistently.
So here is your sign to pause on unnecessary hard work and focus on better systems. Better habits. Everything is tied to our habits. Healthier habits equal a healthier life. The problem is rarely the effort. It is the pattern.
You do not need to do more. You need to build better habits.
Ciao.
