HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY




Every year, I tend to write about the essence of Valentine’s, the origin, all that deep etymological shii. This time, though, I just want to acknowledge it simply.

Today isn’t just about lovers. I like to say it’s about love, and love is for everyone. I remember stepping out this morning for class, and lo and behold, packages everywhere. I used to think Valentine’s was flimsy, overhyped, just an over-exaggerated display.

But as I walked the streets of Ekosodin, seeing the love painted everywhere, it hit me, there’s a certain magic in it. Love is literally in the air. Maybe it’s not a massive deal, but it matters. I could only imagine how special it must feel to be on the receiving end of those gifts, the little joy it brings lighting up someone’s day.

Valentine aside, I love the concept of gifting. It’s impressive, the joy you give, and the joy you get back. It’s not just the package, it’s the thought, the heart behind it.

Dearest reader, Valentine’s is about love, not couples. Cultivate the habit of gifting the people in your life, not just today but often. It’s grand, it’s meaningful, and honestly, it’s never clichĂ©.

Spread love. Feel love. Celebrate love.

TEAM WORK

It can be quite frustrating when a collective effort results in only one person receiving all the praise. Even if my contribution is just 1%, it shouldn’t be overlooked. You never know how these small efforts can make a significant difference. My bubugaga is back from school, and today we did a lot of tidying up. It’s amazing how I suddenly find the energy to work when she's around, despite my usual laziness. After completing so much work, we took a break—we were honestly worn out. Fast forward to the end of the day: everyone applauded her for a job well done, as though it was solely her effort. It felt off because I felt I deserved some recognition too—it was teamwork, after all. So, the point is, you never know how hurtful it can be when someone's effort goes unacknowledged.
