What are you deciding to learn?
Do you know that every day, we unconsciously learn things?
As we go about our daily lives, we’re constantly learning new things without even realizing it. Most times, it’s shaped by our environment, media consumption, and the world around us. But truth is, it’s not always great. In fact, many of our wrong, unhealthy, or even immoral behaviors come from these unconscious influences.
In psychology, this is called Implicit Learning, it happens when you pick up patterns, habits, or knowledge without being consciously aware that you’re learning.
For example, you might start speaking with a certain accent or tone because everyone around you does.
Or you may begin to respond to stress the same way your parents did, even though you never decided to.
It’s “learning without trying.” Your brain quietly absorbs cues, behaviors, and rules from your surroundings.
Now, in a world where we’re constantly learning subconsciously, here’s a question to ponder:
Are you being intentional about what you learn consciously?
Dearest reader, we learn and evolve every day, but most of it happens without our conscious effort. Yet, we have the power to be intentional, to decide what we want to learn and grow into. Because maybe, just maybe, what we consciously choose to learn can override what we subconsciously absorb.
So, what are you deciding to learn each day?
Are you leaving your growth to chance, or are you choosing to learn with purpose?
