not good enough
"Favour, I'm not good enough, I'm not all that intelligent or smart."
Nothing annoys me more than hearing that sentence. I honestly hate it when people give up before trying everything humanly possible. Like bro, have you really pushed yourself hard before reaching that conclusion? Do you even know you?
We often do this thing where, when our results don’t match our expectations, we start acting like it’s the end of the world. What’s not clicking? What are the missing pieces in this jigsaw? That’s what you should be asking yourself, not drawing conclusions from half-baked experiences.
The other day, a friend of mine reached out, complaining about how poorly she was doing in school and how maybe she wasn’t smart enough. I just wanted to yell at her.
You? Not smart? Have you met you?
After that conversation, we realized the problem wasn’t her intelligence at all. She was simply too distracted and wasn’t giving her best.
I’ve come to see that most times, it’s not that we’re facing an impossible challenge, but that we’re not ready to admit the truth, we’re putting in half the effort and expecting full results.
Dearest reader, the bare minimum effort will always produce the bare minimum result. So the next time you feel like you’re not good enough, pause and question your effort. Does your lifestyle really match the outcome you want?
