We all have days, what I like to call “days where life feels heavy,” when it seems as though the weight of the world is sitting right on our shoulders.
One Scripture that has been keeping me grounded lately is James 5:13. It says, “Are you hurting? Pray. Do you feel great? Sing.”
For me, when I feel down, I like to talk to someone or cry my eyes out to my favorite people. That is why this Scripture feels like home. It reminds me that instead of running first to friends when life feels heavy, I should run to the One who created life itself.
Prayer is simply the art of talking to God, of pouring your heart out and knowing He listens. Who's a better confidence than, the guy upstairs?
I am not saying turning to friends is wrong. What I am saying is this: the same way you pick up the phone to call a friend when you are hurting or excited, is the same way you should reach out to God.
Dearest reader, are you having one of those days? Reach out the guy upstairs, trust me, he listens. In moments of heaviness, depression, fear, joy or happiness, it is always important to take it to God.
