SITTING ON AN ANSWERED PRAYER

Do you know that moment when the very thing you have been looking forward to finally comes? Like you finally reach that goal you have been working towards for years, and it feels like you can actually breathe, but then the goal stretches a bit further away.

Like chasing the goalpost and realising it is an illusion, because each time you reach it, it extends further. It is crazy how this phenomenon steals the joy of achieving set goals.

Because the moment we get to the goal, there is always something bigger, something more to aspire to. And while this is not wrong, it often kills the joy of arriving at the goal, as it quickly leads to an obsession with the next.

Dearest reader, yes, there will always be a next big thing. However, do not let it steal the joy of the milestone right in front of you. Do not trivialise your now just because what you want is still out there, because really there was a time you would have given an arm and a leg to have this now.

Above all, I hope you realise you are sitting on an answered prayer. Act like it and be grateful.

TEAM WORK

It can be quite frustrating when a collective effort results in only one person receiving all the praise. Even if my contribution is just 1%, it shouldn’t be overlooked. You never know how these small efforts can make a significant difference. My bubugaga is back from school, and today we did a lot of tidying up. It’s amazing how I suddenly find the energy to work when she's around, despite my usual laziness. After completing so much work, we took a break—we were honestly worn out. Fast forward to the end of the day: everyone applauded her for a job well done, as though it was solely her effort. It felt off because I felt I deserved some recognition too—it was teamwork, after all. So, the point is, you never know how hurtful it can be when someone's effort goes unacknowledged.
