EVEN WITHOUT PARTICIPATION!
A friend of mine, who had previously left The Daily Proverbs Challenge group I organized in July before it ended, reached out to apologize for leaving like that. And then she explained her reasons.
I wasn't upset about her leaving, or that wasn't participating, because let's face it, life gets in the way most at times, life gets busy! She couldn't keep up, and felt guilty about it resulting to her leaving.
So I had to explain to her that, yesss! the essence of the group, and challenge is a community of people who are reading, and studying the book of Proverbs daily, and then sharing a verse for accountability sake, and also to encourage the next person stay consistent.
However, just being in the group, just being a part of the community gives you this sort of access to read through some people's Proverbs of the day -- the one or two verses they drop daily. Therefore, despite you inability to read a chapter of Proverbs that day, surely you'd come across the few verses of the day's chapter someone else dropped.
That was an angle I had to point out, and she confessed to not have seen it in that light.
There's this thing about association. Association yield so much power than we realize. The kind of things we interact with daily has a way of influencing us subtly. So it may seem pointless to be in a group where you're dormant, but in real sense by means of association, you're learning, and unlearning subtly.
Funny enough, one of my favorites, and profound verses of the book of Proverbs were not seen or rather gotten, when I was reading through the chapter myself, but most times when someone else posts it on the daily Proverbs group.
Dearest reader, here's a reminder of the power of association. What are the kind of association do you keep? Actively or even inactively.
