My #1 Writing Hack
"Writing is simply the art and science of expressing oneself in the eloquence of words." X
I believe one of the hardest things about being a writer is having to write about something you do not feel. For me, the greatest hack in writing is the ability to relate or rather connect with the subject.
Earlier today, I was working on something. I had written a whole piece and it was ready to be published. I read through it one more time and then deleted it. It might not make sense to you, but I cannot publish what I cannot connect with.
This is why I fancy African literature. Like I often say, it is simply a reality I can relate with. And that is one of my writing hacks. Mind you, I am not saying this applies to everyone.
So the point is, oftentimes, to better express something, you must first connect deeply with it. For example, to truly share the love of God with others, I need to first have a strong relationship with Him. Does that sink in?
Remember, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. That is how we express, write, or create from the wealth of our being.
Dearest reader, connectivity is synonymous with becoming. So to better express, you have to become one with the experience or whatever it is.
PS: That is my hack. I hope you find it useful.
