ARE YOU A FOOL?

"Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions." ~ Proverbs 18:2 NIV

There’s this thing about wanting to be understood without even trying to understand the next person.

My job exposes me to a lot of waybill drivers, and I tell you, it is hectic. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had meltdowns because of them. These guys seem bent on frustrating somebody (sighs).

But lately, I’ve been realizing why. You see, I used to have a hard time dealing with them because we were both trying to do things our individual ways. I didn’t want to understand their “why,” and they didn’t care about mine.

And there I was, always going back to the office in tears after another annoying encounter at the park. This continued until I started trying to understand them—how they think and how they act. Yes, they still give me a hard time because, at the end of the day, I’m a soft girl. If you shout at me, I’ll cry. Yet, I’ve learned to handle them better.

Mr. Pojo would say, “The child is the one who wants to be understood but doesn’t want to understand.” A fool is ultimately a child, and while that may sound insulting, it is true.

So, dearest reader, are you a fool? Chill. Before you rush to reject the idea, ask yourself how you handle situations. Do you try to understand, or do you just want everyone to see your point?

P.S. King Solomon sef, you’ll just be on your own and boom! Oga don pour you spit.
