THE THING ABOUT HIDING

Alas, King Solomon knew exactly what he was saying when he said there’s nothing hidden under the sun.

You see, I had this petty little secret I was guarding with all my heart, keeping it away from a particular friend of mine. I didn’t know how she’d react if she found out, so I kept it to myself.

Now, as someone who's terrible at hiding and pretending, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Only for me to tell her about it eight months later, and she was like, “I knew all along.”

Mehn! So I put myself through all that unnecessary stress of hiding for nothing?

But trust me to take the L with no hard feelings and move on. Yes, I was infuriated by what I went through while hiding it, but more than anything, I was grateful for the relief I felt afterwards.

I read somewhere that sin thrives in secrecy. The more you hide it, the more it eats you up.

Dearest reader, I’ll tell you this for free: hiding and secrecy are the harder chores. Just come out clean and ask yourself, what’s the worst that could happen?
