TAKING RESPONSIBILITY 101.

How do you handle situations where the other person is clearly at fault and you're tired of being the bigger person?

In the words of Devi Vishwakumar, it sucks a fat one.

You know you're responsible for your reality, yet there are just times when it feels like the universe is testing you. Can I get a witness?

So yes, despite external factors that influence our experiences, we are fully responsible for everything we go through! We choose how we look at it, how we decide to take it, and how we choose to respond to it.

I bet this is probably one of the most messed up things you’ve heard recently, but think about it, someone hurts you, for example. They are clearly in the wrong, right? Yet here I am telling you that you're responsible for that.

Regardless of the next person's actions, the way you choose to respond is solely your responsibility, and that matters more than their actions.

And like Mark Manson simply puts it, "We are responsible for experiences that aren't our fault all the time. This is part of life."

Dearest reader, remember: you're always responsible, be it your fault or not. Take responsibility, figure out the part you played in it, and most importantly, avoid the urge to shift the blame.

I think where we get it wrong is trying to be the bigger person. Being the bigger person and taking responsibility are two different concepts we often mistake. We'll dive into what that entails tomorrow. Stay tuned!
