"Don't remain where they left you"
Recently, a friend of mine reconnected with an old friend who had ghosted her without any warning. As they caught up, the friend said, “Wow, you’ve really grown so much.”
She was so excited about the conversation and couldn’t stop talking about it. From her perspective, she hadn’t noticed much personal growth, but hearing it from someone who hadn’t seen her in a while made her reflect. It made her realize just how far she had come.
Though she joked about how we shouldn’t still be in the same place where someone left us, the message stuck with me, it was profound. Growth is a continuous journey. It’s not always immediately visible, but over time, the impact speaks volumes.
One thing we often forget is to pause and appreciate how far we’ve come. To notice the small things we’ve improved at, the skills we’ve mastered, or the obstacles we’ve overcome.
It took a ghosted friend returning for my friend to recognize the transformation she had undergone in just a few years.
Most importantly, give yourself permission to grow. The best kind of "revenge" you can ever take is becoming a better version of yourself. In my friend's words, "don’t remain where they left you".
Dearest reader, do yourself a favor: keep evolving. Keep unlearning, learning, and relearning. Trust me, it’s a powerful feeling to look back and see the results of your intentional effort.
