WHO DO YOU LISTEN TO?
Proverbs 17:4 (AMP)
An evildoer listens closely to wicked lips; and a liar pays attention to a destructive and malicious tongue.
Just the other week, we explored how what you delight in defines what you habitually do. Now, here’s a text telling us that what you listen to also says a lot about you.
For instance, I listen to a lot of love songs and pay attention to love quotes and all that. It’s pretty evident that I’m, in fact, a hopeless romantic, right?
I think that’s the point King Solomon is trying to get across here. Low-key, the book of Proverbs is a lot. I’ve gone through it countless times, and guess what? Each day, I either discover something new or gain a deeper insight into a particular verse.
I like to think of King Solomon as a psychologist, he deeply studied human behavior to understand what we do and who we are. And if you look closely, you’ll notice that he constantly defines us by certain standards.
Dearest reader, research shows that we are naturally drawn to things that reflect the kind of person we are. Just as an evildoer is drawn to wicked lips, so is a liar drawn to a destructive and malicious tongue.
At the end of the day, you must sit back and ask yourself: Who do you listen to? Who do you pay attention to?
