THE THING ABOUT PROXIMITY.

"Everything looks beautiful until you are close. Because proximity exposes flaws." ~ X

Have you ever loved someone from afar, only to get close and realize they aren't that great?

That’s right! Proximity has a way of exposing flaws in HD. Something may look shiny, fancy, or even perfect from a distance, but the closer you get, the more the flaws and fault lines start to show.

This is why it's not ideal to boast about or obsess over something you haven’t seen up close.

I remember back in secondary school, there was this friend group I admired. They were the stars of A class, and omor, I envied them. Well, due to some circumstances, I had to switch to A class, and I was super excited when I got accepted into that particular friend group.

I thought to myself, “I’m finally going to figure out why they’re so good.” But just a few weeks in, I realized it wasn’t what it seemed. They looked flawless, perfect, and great on the outside, but only those on the inside knew it wasn’t all that.

Dearest reader, I once read that true love starts with friendship. I shouldn’t love out of ignorance. I should love something I’ve come to understand, someone I’ve come to know.

So just before you love, get close enough.
Remember, not all that glitters is gold.
