CHRONICLES OF LADY AVA: LOOK AROUND




Today was the Evolve Conference, an event I’ve been anticipating for the longest time. Trust me, it was everything and more.

There was so much to learn and plenty of opportunities to meet amazing people.

At the end of the event, after a hectic day being part of the team, that was when we finally had time to take pictures. During our photo session, there was this particular girl who was taking our pictures but absolutely refused to take hers.

She was shy. But it was fine, because once upon a time, I was like that too, too shy to take a photo alone, mainly because I fel
t like everyone around was watching me.

I remember one time I was avoiding taking pictures again, but Lady Ava refused to let me be. She insisted she knew how much I loved photos (I do).

Ava was like, “Favour, why are you shy?”
Omor, I told her we were in public and I didn’t want all that attention. And then she asked me to look around and see if anybody actually cared to look in my direction. Funny enough, when I looked around, yes, there were people, but everyone was busy with their own thing.

Since then, it’s been easier to pose and have my pictures taken, even in public. Stares or not, I’ll still do what I want to do [all the crazy pose styles].

So watching this young lady struggle with a similar issue, I employed the Ava model. I told her to look around, which she did, and realized nobody was looking. That made her a little more comfortable.

Dearest reader, look around. You’ll see that nobody really cares about what you’re doing. So keep at it, shamelessly.

Do you. Nobody really cares. People are too busy with their own stuff to criticize or look your way.

TEAM WORK

It can be quite frustrating when a collective effort results in only one person receiving all the praise. Even if my contribution is just 1%, it shouldn’t be overlooked. You never know how these small efforts can make a significant difference. My bubugaga is back from school, and today we did a lot of tidying up. It’s amazing how I suddenly find the energy to work when she's around, despite my usual laziness. After completing so much work, we took a break—we were honestly worn out. Fast forward to the end of the day: everyone applauded her for a job well done, as though it was solely her effort. It felt off because I felt I deserved some recognition too—it was teamwork, after all. So, the point is, you never know how hurtful it can be when someone's effort goes unacknowledged.
