CHRONICLES OF LADY AVA: "Fine Man" Saga

If you know Ava, you’ll know the rate at which madam catches crushes is alarming. Every week, new crush. That’s why when she says “my crush said,” we all echo, “Which one?”

So when she came all giddy and excited, I knew she had seen one fine boy. The only things that get her that happy are food, new crushes, novels, and taking on new challenges.

Madam swore the chemistry between her and this newfound crush was 9/10. It was all she talked about for days. She bored our ears with details of their chats. Three days, same energy. I was beginning to think that maybe this time, the crush would be serious. Madam was already getting ahead of herself, planning their lives together.

Well, as fate would have it, on the fourth day, she came back heartbroken. Her crush was snubbing her. So I sat her down and went over the whole story again. When we were done, we realized she had just gotten ahead of herself. Their conversations and interactions had been nothing but platonic at best, 7nothing showing that the guy liked her.

I did my best to hold my laughter. But as laughable as it is, the whole experience has something to teach.

We often read too much meaning into things, especially my gender. And funny enough, we tend to over-exaggerate things, which stops us from seeing things the way they truly are.

Dearest reader, I know it’s not only Ava that does this thing of planning life with someone after just one conversation. And honestly, this can ruin something that could’ve turned out to be a beautiful friendship.

Take your time with people. Don’t fly into conclusions. Get to know them. Experience platonic friendship instead of romanticizing, or rather, relationship-zoning, every “your type” you come across.

PS: In Ava’s defense, it’s K-drama to be blamed lol. Innocent K-drama, abi?
