ARE YOU THRIVING OR JUST GETTING BY?

"Some people survive chaos, and that's how they grow, while some people thrive in chaos because chaos is all they know." — X

I saw a meme the other day that said, "I just dey roam among the living, I no dey live sef." As funny as it seemed, it’s the reality for some of us.

We’re not really giving life our full capacity, simply because we’re trying to get by.

Just last week, I had a conversation with an older acquaintance, and it centered on the very idea above. We were able to analyze the line between survival and thriving. The conversation was enlightening, so I took out my book and penned some things down.

While survival is necessary for thriving, they are not the same thing. To have survived something isn’t a guarantee that you’ve moved past it. Survival is simply getting by, barely escaping a burning house, barely holding on, or being held together by a thread.

But the thing about thriving is this: it’s an all-round basking in full capacity, even in the midst of chaos.

Note that it takes a survivor to thrive — once you can get by, you should be able to scale up.

The point is, we are made to thrive, to bask in fullness and wholeness... yet we’ve been conditioned to just survive, to get by.

Dearest reader, when was the last time you were truly okay? It’s crazy, you know, because we’re not alright, and we haven’t been for a long time.

If you feel this way, your feelings are valid. And if it helps, know that you’re not alone in this box. We are many.

Let’s go, a day at a time, shall we?
