Luck: Training Meets Opportunity

"Luck is when training meets an opportunity to practice its perfection." ✖

In the words of PVO, "Opportunity and time happen to us all. How you utilize them determines how prepared you are." What we often call luck is really the maximization of opportunities through preparation and training.

When we hear the word miracle or luck, we imagine something effortless, a sudden leap forward with no prior work. But nothing truly good comes without effort or preparation.

Without training, no matter how great the opportunity, you won't be able to use it. We pray for access and opportunities we may lack the skill to sustain. Now, imagine how tragic it would be to have the opportunity arrive, yet be completely unrefined and unable to seize it.

There's a proverb that says, "When the student is ready, the teacher appears. When the student is truly ready, the teacher disappears." Notice that the student must first reach a certain level of training before gaining access to the teacher, and eventually, the teacher steps back once the student is equipped.

Once you are trained, the opportunity to practice and refine your skills will surely come, it's inevitable. That’s why King Solomon said in Proverbs, "Have you seen a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings and not before mere men."

The opportunity to stand before kings comes from skillfulness, which comes from training.

Dearest reader, perfection takes intentional effort. Beyond passion and zeal, the right skill set and opportunities to refine your craft through trial and error pave the way to mastery.

The magic lies in the combination of preparation and opportunity. That’s what people call luck. But in reality, it’s hard work, because without training, opportunity is meaningless.
