THE EXCEPTIONS
"If you base your life on advice culled from the experiences of an exception, the rule will humble you." — Eric Gugua
There is always an exception to every rule, but the odds are against you if you are counting on being that one exception. Yes, it can be done, someone has done it, but what are the odds?
When the odds are against you, do not be naive enough to assume you can do it just because someone else did. Achieving it takes more than just desire.
Something can be nearly impossible, yet a specific set of people manage to accomplish it. These people are the exceptions, they are no ordinary. So when you take their experience, use it as a motivational story, and aspire to attain the same height, the reality is that your chances of success are slim.
Take for example the eagerness to choose a professional course while registering for UTME, only to later realize that admission is reserved for a select few, the exceptions.
By default, the rule is that if you do what everyone else is doing, you will get what everyone else is getting. But exceptions do not follow the rule, they are not ordinary.
Dearest reader, while it is great to aim for the moon so you might land among the stars, it is also wise to be realistic. Do not build your life around the experience of the exception, the rare one percent that makes it.
Instead, start by reaching for the clouds, then move on to the stars, and finally climb to the moon. Do not let motivational speakers deceive you.
