IAM'S
I am IAMFavour Okwanyionu, definitely not your average Gen Z.
Writing isn’t just something I do; it’s who I am. Every word I craft is raw, real, and rooted in experience. Whether it’s storytelling, poetry, or everyday musings, I pour my heart into every piece, hoping to connect, inspire, or at least make someone think.
Beyond writing, I am an avid reader, always hungry for fresh perspectives and new ideas. African literature has my heart, its authenticity, its richness, its unapologetic truth. Some of my favorite authors are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Comfort Omovre, Fatima Bola, and many others who bring African stories to life. Spoken word poetry also holds a special place in my soul, and though I dabble in it myself, I deeply admire poets like Huwa and Havfy. Let’s just say if it is art and African, I am in.
Now, here is a plot twist. I am also a science enthusiast. I love physics, even though it has humbled me many times. I tend to approach life with a scientific mindset, breaking down experiences, analyzing patterns, and constantly experimenting with ways to be better.
History is another passion of mine. I love diving into the past, understanding how it shapes the present, and drawing lessons from those who came before us. As Isaac Newton once said, "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" I am who I am because of the mentors, teachers, and wise voices that have guided me.
I also have a deep love for languages, particularly Hebrew. There is something fascinating about its depth and meaning, and I enjoy exploring it whenever I can.
Another thing close to my heart is the book of Proverbs. I run a daily Proverbs group where a community of us read a chapter that corresponds to the date and share verses that resonate with us. It is a beautiful way to gain wisdom and see how scripture applies to daily life.
When I am not lost in an African novel, you will find me watching movies with my notepad in hand, of course. I do not just watch for entertainment. I analyze, learn, and sometimes even review them. I love breaking down stories, exploring their deeper meanings, and sharing my perspective.
Speaking of perspectives, let’s clear something up. I am a feminist, though I know the term is often misunderstood. To me, it is about equality, empowerment, and ensuring every voice, especially women’s, is heard and valued.
Most importantly, I am not just a church girl. I am a God girl. I am passionate about my faith, constantly learning, growing, and excited about God’s kingdom. If I had to sum it up, I would say I am IAM’s favorite daughter.
And that, I think, is most of what there is to know about me, but who knows? Life is still unfolding.
