VALUE-YOU.
"If you don't place value on yourself, nobody will." — Mr. Paul
I don't know if it's just Nigerians, but I've come to notice that people tend to value you when you place value on yourself. It's the same way we don’t value things without a price tag.
For instance, we normalize things we don’t pay for, but once something costs us, we hold it in high regard.
In the same way, if you play yourself down or speak negatively about yourself, trust that people will walk all over you. One of the many things I love about my boss is his awareness of his abilities. Mehn! It can easily be misunderstood as pride because there is a thin line between the two.
Like one of my favorite axioms states, "Look at yourself and see awesomeness." Be utterly impressed and intrigued by all you carry, because how you treat yourself is how others will treat you. And how you treat yourself is, in turn, a product of how you see yourself.
Dearest reader, a bottle of water and a sachet of water both contain water, but a bottle of water is more appreciated because it is well presented. Here’s a reminder to be kind to yourself and never downplay your worth—else, the world around you will.
