THE YOU-POINT OF VIEW

Hello there!

Guess who just finished watching XO, Kitty? Yes, meee!

I know it's an old movie, but I have this thing for watching movies only after everybody has stopped talking about them. I swear it’s not intentional, it just feels nicer that way for me.

Back to the movie. I’m utterly thrilled by the storyline! In less than a week, I finished both seasons, that’s how intense it was. Trust me, even though I was giddy throughout, I still made sure to engage my mind beyond what was shown on the surface.

The highlight of the movie was basically the main character flying across the world to:

1. Meet the love of her life

2. Find out more about her mom

While task one was all kinds of complicated, she excelled at task two. She not only discovered more about her mom, but she also found herself in the process of uncovering the past. And this made so much sense, because the past is a valuable part of what shapes us. It shouldn’t be discarded or forgotten, but rather embraced and reinvented anew.

The scriptwriter literally blew my mind. However, when I first started watching and made a WhatsApp post about it, I got a couple of negative spoiler alerts, warning me not to watch season two because it was "total trash." And guess what? I still watched it and I was blown away! I actually found it even more exciting.

To think that, for a moment, I was hesitant to watch season two because of other people's opinions is crazy. This reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend a few days ago. I was telling him how different things appeal to different people because we’re not all the same.

It's okay to be over the moon about something that someone else sees as fleeting. Your opinion is what makes you unique. Oftentimes, your authenticity lies in how awkwardly different your perspective is compared to the next person.

Dearest reader, it’s grand to discover the truth for yourself. I got so much from season two, the one that was supposedly "total trash" according to some people. Now imagine if I had taken their advice and skipped it. I would have missed out on all of it!
