DISCIPLINE AND FOCUS
"Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." — Proverbs 4:27
Discipline is following a set design. There is a pattern, and if you deviate to the right or left, you have effectively disobeyed.
King Solomon's advice is to keep away from anything evil. But what exactly is evil? The Hebrew word for evil, "ra", can refer to anything bad, harmful, distressing, or dysfunctional, not just moral corruption.
In this verse, King Solomon is essentially instructing us to avoid anything dysfunctional, distressing, or harmful. It’s not merely a call to righteousness but a principle for wise living: if something is unpleasant, do not go in that direction. Stay on your path. Stay focused.
A blind man once said that one advantage of blindness is the ability to remain focused and unwavering in the pursuit of a goal.
Dearest reader, true obedience means staying aligned with the right path, neither turning left nor right. Practice being blind to distractions while staying locked in on your goal, and witness the massive results that follow.
