A BOOK LOVER'S DELIGHT.

Guess what book has got me hooked recently?

I'll tell you anyway! The title is "When Love Visits" by Comfort Omovre. Now, I had previously said I'd be taking a break from African literature because the last book I read was so traumatic that even when I close my eyes, I can vividly see the gory details.

However, I decided to give this book a chance, and mehn! I've been screaming, shouting, jumping, and blushing a million times over since chapter one. Not just because I'm a hopeless romantic, but because of how well-written it is.

One thing I find truly authentic about African literature is how relatable it is. It reflects a reality I interact with daily. Before settling down to read this particular book, I checked out some reviews, and one that stood out was: "What I love about this book is how it doesn't pretend to be anything other than Nigerian." And boom! I knew I had to read it.

It paints everyday reality so perfectly while seamlessly infusing fiction into it.

It's so unlike me to review a book when I'm hardly halfway through, but mehn! I'm utterly smitten. So smitten that almost all the book lovers in my WhatsApp circle have started reading it too. In my defense, all I did was talk about the book, post screenshots, and boom, i'm getting so many "Please send!" messages. Some people are even way ahead of me, and I was the one who sent them the book. Crazy, abi?

I've been learning a lot so far, but don't worry, trust that I'll give you the full gist of everything I learned when I'm done reading. What thrills me the most? Two things:

1. How authentic and soft the book feels.

2. How, just by talking about it, I've distributed the PDF to over 10 people on my WhatsApp.

Dearest reader, have you noticed how much easier it is to watch a movie that’s been recommended than one you randomly come across? I, for one, admit that without a little spoiler or insight into how a movie or novel goes, there's often some reluctance to indulge.

Alas, what you put out there is shaping your viewers and influencing their decisions. Take, for instance, one of the people who asked for the book I posted about, they had planned to read a different book, but then mine came along. Now, it can be said that I’ve literally influenced their book choice.
