TRY DEY GIVE UP

So last night, a friend of mine and I were working on a particular edit. It was initially something simple, but it got really difficult.

I suggested that we stop and continue today, but he refused. He was like, "Neverrrrr," believing we could still do it. Not wanting to seem pessimistic, I didn't object, so we went on. We worked for hours, and it still wasn’t coming together.

At this point, we were both worn out, him struggling with falling asleep, and me unable to think straight. We then agreed to give up and continue today. When we started over this afternoon, in less than 2 hours, we were done, and it was coming together just as it should.

Dearest reader, leave the "You can do it" talk. In the words of my coach, "Which 'you' can do it?" Of course, we were more than capable of executing the project, but it required the well-rested version of us, not the exhausted ones. So, no matter the effort we put into it, as long as we were exhausted, it wouldn’t have worked.

This made me realize that, truly, life shouldn't be hard. We just tend to act according to our own design. Everything is structured in a way, and unless you follow that design, you'll never get the result you want.

Just like my friend and I had a hard time with the project because we weren’t in the right conditions, that’s how we often go through life, pouring effort into what seems like a basket, simply because the conditions aren’t right.

My advice: If it's not working, take a break! Sometimes, giving up might just be what you need, who knows? Rest and get back, question and figure out why it isn't working.
