Time: A Currency to Spend Wisely.
Proverbs 28:19
"A hard-working farmer has plenty to eat. People who waste time will always be poor."
Time is a currency, what do you do with your 24 hours?
One phenomenal aspect of the Book of Proverbs is how effectively Solomon contrasts the wise and the foolish, like whenever he highlights the benefit of a good habit, he often pairs it with the consequences of neglecting it.
For instance, take the verse above: being hardworking results in abundance (having plenty to eat), whereas wasting time leads to poverty (not having enough to eat).
Now, it gets more interesting when we explore the Hebrew context of this verse. The Hebrew word for "poverty" here, "machsor," is unique to the Book of Proverbs. It refers to a state of deficiency or falling below a necessary standard.
Wasting time doesn’t necessarily mean doing nothing—it could simply mean engaging in activities that produce subpar results or fail to meet the desired standard. With the understanding that time is a currency, we must ensure our efforts align with a clear purpose and meet the necessary benchmarks.
Dearest reader, it’s essential to ensure that your 24 hours are spent pursuing the right goals to meet the necessary standard. In all you do, make sure you’re acquiring value. Failing to do so is, in essence, wasting time.
