ATTITUDE

"Problems are inevitable. Misery is a choice." – Ann Landers

Life is always going to happen, tragically, time and time again. However, it is up to you to decide how you deal with tragedy.

The right attitude toward problem-solving goes a long way in resolving issues. So, when life punches you in the throat with a fistful of challenges, remember that you can choose to be positive about it.

A wise man once said, "Suffering is a choice determined by whether you compare your experience and pain to something better—feeling unlucky and bitter—or to something worse—feeling lucky and grateful."

From his perspective, we can infer that problematic experiences are neutral. The real question is: What are we comparing them to? I have written exams and felt utterly impressed with my results, until I saw someone else's and became devastated.

Dearest reader, when life happens, as it always does and always will, endeavor to be fair to yourself in comparing experiences. Don’t put yourself in a position that leads to unnecessary depression.

And yes, there is such a thing as necessary depression. It can drive you to do better and become more. However, unnecessary depression will lead straight to rock bottom.
