A PAYCHARGE EXPERIENCE

Story, story!

Allow me to regale you with a little tale of patience, pettiness, and an unexpected joy, courtesy of a paycharge guy on my street.

A Quick Backstory:
My street has been in darkness for almost a year now (yes, a whole year), and everyone depends on this particular paycharge station to keep our gadgets alive. My usual routine is to drop off my power bank in the morning on my way to work and pick it up fully charged on my way home.

A small rule I live by: I don’t take my power bank unless it’s 100% charged, after all, I’m paying the same amount regardless of the percent, so why waste money?

Now to the Story:
Today, my phone battery had been limping through the day, and I couldn’t wait to pick up my fully charged power bank after work. But imagine my disappointment when I got to the paycharge station, and the guy casually told me, “It’s only half charged.”

Half charged? Nah. I wasn’t having that. So, I left it there and went home, thinking, “By the time I come back, it’ll be fully charged.”

Hours later, I returned, only to hear the same story: “It’s not fully charged yet.” At this point, I was fuming. My phone battery was critically low, and I had important things to do. Out of frustration and desperation, I told him to just give me the power bank as it was, I couldn’t wait any longer.

But guess what? This man decided to attend to every single person there before me. People who came long after I arrived were being served first. At this point my patience was running thin, and I was silently fuming.

Finally, when he decided to acknowledge my existence, he launched into some random argument about a topic I didn’t even care about. All I wanted was my power bank so I could leave! But no, oga was clearly wasting my time on purpose.

When he finally handed it over, I was so annoyed that I didn’t bother checking the charge percent. I just stormed off. But then I glanced at the screen moments later.

99%.

Yes, 99%! This man had deliberately delayed me so that my power bank could get as close to fully charged as possible. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but in that moment, all my anger evaporated. Instead, I found myself thanking him for wasting my time.

Dearest reader, I have no idea why I'm sharing this experience with you, but it was sort of the highlight of my day. Waiting can be so annoying—trust me, I know. But sometimes, it can bring unexpected blessings, like a fully charged power bank when you least expect it.

So, that’s my story.

I hope your day was brighter than my street's light, and may you find joy even in the delays.

Okay, bye!
