WHY MASHAL? (2)
I'm the kind of person who hates responsibility. I tend to run away from it as much as possible. However, I'm beginning to fall in love with my daily Proverbs group—it’s been such a blessing to me.
In the past week, I discovered something astounding: every day, the group participants read a chapter of Proverbs corresponding to the date. Then, each person shares a verse that resonates with them.
Since we all use different translations, the way one person's version presents a verse might highlight something my own translation missed. This difference in translations often clarifies verses that initially seemed strange, and trust me, it has been such a blessing.
For example, take Proverbs 18:20. While my translation reads, "From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied," another reads, "You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say."
So sharp, right? It literally intrigues me every single time! Mehn! Now imagine if I hadn’t gotten over myself and hadn’t created the group. Sure, I might’ve been reading my daily Proverbs personally, but I probably wouldn’t have gained these insights because of translation barriers. And maybe the 21 members of my group wouldn’t be benefiting from it either.
That’s the beauty of community. Don’t even get me started on how this group has helped many of us develop consistency in other areas of our lives.
Dearest reader, it’s really not about what you like or hate. Is it necessary? Is it beneficial? That’s what truly matters. I know some of us dislike group activities (I used to feel the same), but it has been worth it so far.
Mind you, there’s still space for new participants in case you’d love to join us!
Btw, MerryTuesday!
