The Power of Perception
"What we see and hear influences our reality. If you see right, you just might live right."
My coach would often say, "See and just live." It sounds simple, but seeing is a big deal. How you see is your lens, and if your lens is fractured, so is your life. That's why we must ensure our lenses are clean and free from anything unhealthy.
If my vision is clouded and I keep hearing negativity, my reality will conform to it.
I have a friend named Prayer. I remember when we were younger, she would walk with her face to the floor, timid from being called ugly repeatedly by our classmates. But really she wasnt ugly, her inability to see herself correctly affected her deeply, making her unsure of herself.
At one point, I was practically begging her to see differently, to look in the mirror and see herself truly. But all she saw were the flaws others teased her about. However, the story changed once she realized she was beautiful, I don't know how it happened but all a sudden she was happy to wear her skin. Though it brought about a certain level of pride, her new confidence was refreshing.
The point is, we must see correctly to live rightly. The quality of our lives results from the quality of our vision (how we see) and what we listen to.
Dearest reader, consider this a wake-up call to cleanse your lens and your ears. See rightly, hear good things, and live well.
