SPEAK UP!
A poet I love once said, "The thing about help is that it's always beside you, standing by, but it won't know it's needed until someone reaches out their hand."
Nobody! absolutely nobody, can read your mind. We aren't superhumans capable of telepathy. So, are you having a hard time? Are you dealing with depression? Reach out. Speak up.
Even if you're shy or find it hard to be vulnerable with people, try to find someone you trust enough to talk to.
What I find peculiar about myself is that I vent a lot. It's the only way I can stay sane. Trust me, if I've had a stressful day, I'll be in my bestie's DMs for the 100th time, telling her how tired and exhausted I feel. Now, talking about it doesn't magically solve my problems, but it does serve as a form of therapy.
There have been moments when a big issue weighs heavily on my mind, and as I start explaining it to a friend, I suddenly have this crazy lightbulb moment where I know exactly what to do. It’s wild, but I know some of you can relate.
That's why they say, "A problem shared is a problem halved." Bottling up your feelings and pretending to be tough only destroys you from the inside out.
Dearest reader, remember this: being vulnerable is not the same as being weak. Talk to someone today. And for those of you thinking, "They won’t understand," well done. Keep bottling it up until it consumes you. Or, you could try reaching out.
If you can’t bring yourself to talk to someone, then write it down. More than anything, we all need non-judgmental people in our lives—those who will listen and support us without criticism.
Merry Sunday! Remember to reach out, speak up, and, if possible, get the help you need. Mental well-being is wealth.
