It's okay not to be okay.

Our conversations have become so basic that when we're asked how we are doing, it's always, "I'm fine, and you?" Since when did that become the norm—the default answer to the question of our well-being?

You know, over time, this practice has made it hard to share when we're struggling. We're so used to saying "I'm fine" that even when we're not, we subconsciously claim a false sense of wellness.

In the words of Kingatha, "It's okay to be drowning in a pool. If life knocks you down beside a ditch, take off your clothes and go for a swim." So, let's not deceive ourselves with the façade of claiming to be well when we are not.

I want you to know, my dearest reader, that it is okay. It's okay not to have it all figured out. It's okay not to be where you want to be. It's okay not to feel right at the moment. It's okay not to know what to do next. It's okay to feel like you're hanging by a thread. It's okay to be floating in outer space.

Maybe the next time someone asks how you're doing, try to be honest. You nor be Batman; you can't always be "fine."
