Hello there!
I cut my hair a few days back, and a lot of people have had opinions, ranging from "Ahh, Favour, don't do this again" to "This looks horrible," to "How dare you cut all the hair on your head?" to "Biko, go and gum your hair back."
I've even heard, more than once, that I look like a widow. Mehn, it's been funny. One thing I believe is that people don't just do things without reason. Almost everything we do has been given careful thought. So no, I didn’t just wake up one morning and run scissors through my hair. I had actually been contemplating it for the past four months.
When you consider that it took me over four months of thinking to finally get rid of my hair, it feels far less spontaneous. Things don’t just happen!
Now, from all the comments I've received about my haircut, I've learned something vital: there are some opinions that should matter to you, and only you can define these.
I’ve always said that beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. If I’m not comfortable with something, then it’s not beautiful to me, no matter how appealing it may seem to others.
Dearest reader, permit me to reemphasize this: people don’t just do things without reason. Instead of imposing your opinion on something someone did that doesn’t make sense to you, try to understand it from their perspective. Don’t go and “kee” yourself just because someone wouldn’t approve of your decision.
