WHAT DO YOU TRULY WANT?

As the writer Eric Hoffer said, “You can never get enough of what you do not really want.”

It’s in the yearning and longing for something that the drive to obtain it is born. Without the desire and thirst for it, you’ll never truly get enough of it.

Just as believers must thirst and long after righteousness to be filled, so too must we truly want something in order to get it. This isn’t the normal kind of wanting that’s limited to mere wishing; it’s the kind of thirst and longing that drives you to do whatever is necessary to attain what you truly desire.

As my pastor often says, “Men on a mission are goal-driven.” Unless your desire burns brighter than the sun and compels you to do the required work, it’s just wishing. And that’s entirely different from wanting something enough to enable you to obtain it. If you truly want it, you must be like men on a mission—driven by your goal.

Dearest reader, a poet I love once said, “The thing about help is, it’s always beside you, but it won’t know it’s needed until someone reaches out their hand.” You must want something in such a way that it makes you reach out to obtain it; otherwise, you’ll never get enough of it, as it will never come to you.
