The Joy of Good News at the Right Time

"Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land." — Proverbs 25:25

My God! This scripture has never felt truer. I had a pretty tight schedule today with way too many things to report on, mostly my coach's assignments, which I hold dear. As the day wore on, my to-do list still loomed large, and my mood dipped as I tried to push my tired brain to keep working.

Of all the outstanding tasks, one in particular was weighing on me—a specific assignment with a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Ideally, I could focus and complete it well. But with the way my mind was struggling this evening, I knew I’d need to do a lot of research, which felt daunting.

Determined to get it done, I decided to reach out to a friend who was in the same boat (we both had the same assignment) for some motivation. Madam told me the assignment I was worrying about wasn’t actually due until tomorrow at 11:59 p.m.! At first, the doubting Thomas in me didn’t believe it, so I hurriedly checked the original message—and it was true.

I literally screamed at the top of my voice for joy. In that moment, I felt pure bliss. This piece of information was golden; it felt like cold water to a parched soul. That’s when the Bible verse above came to mind, and I realized how true it felt for me.

Dearest reader, I can’t fully express in words how thrilled I was, but for a moment, I really understood what King Solomon meant in that verse. Have you ever experienced the joy of discovering sweet news at just the right time?
