PRIDE AS A MUMU BUTTON.
Did you know that proud people are one of the easiest to manipulate? Their "mumu button" is always on. All it takes is a dare, as they have a way of wanting to prove themselves, jumping at the chance just to show what they can do.
For instance, I once found myself carrying a heavy load reluctantly when someone made a silly comment like, "I’m sure you need help with that." Suddenly, I turned into superwoman, taking it upon myself as a challenge.
Here’s the thing about proud people like me: in that scenario, I needed help. Was I willing to accept it? Yes. But I wanted to prove that I could handle it on my own.
That’s where people stumble—the desire to do everything alone. I’ve discussed this many times: we can’t navigate life alone. However, today’s focus is on how easy it is to manipulate proud individuals.
Pride is an expensive commodity; it controls those who possess it. Just like in my struggle with the heavy load, pride made it harder for me to ask for help when I could have simply accepted it. That’s one significant "mumu button," and if the wrong person gets wind of it, they might take advantage of you.
Dearest reader, pride isn’t entirely a bad thing. In fact, I believe nothing is entirely negative. While it can be a necessary ingredient in our lives, we must be cautious as it can also serve as a "mumu button" or a manipulative tool in the hands of others.
