MISUSING GRACE.
"Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid!" Apostle Paul exclaimed. This is because only a fool takes advantage of what they have access to.
Of course, grace exists, and our sins are forgiven. But it becomes worthless when we keep falling back into the same cycle of sin, seeking forgiveness, being forgiven, and then returning to sin.
When I say "sin," what comes to mind? You might immediately think of extreme acts like murder, theft, or sexual immorality. However, let's put the religious context aside for a moment. What is sin, really?
The word sin translates to the Hebrew word khata' and the Greek word hamartia, meaning "to fail" or "to miss the goal."
Genesis 4:7 says, "You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin(khata') is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master."
Dearest reader, sin can be as simple as failing to do what is right—resulting in a missed goal or failure.
The point is, we cannot keep doing the wrong thing over and over again just because we know we'll be forgiven. Let's not take grace for granted—not just in our relationship with God, but also with others. Don't keep wronging a friend repeatedly, assuming they'll always forgive you just because they love you.
