ARE YOU AWARE?
So, I made this crazy braid with my natural hair, and given the texture of my hair, it refused to fall or relax, making it stand up like something straight out of African magic. Whenever I go out, I either tie the standing strands or cover them up.
However, on my way to get something this morning, I let my hair loose. Then, someone randomly stopped me and said, "What if I told you, you still look beautiful even with your hair?" The guy was smiling, probably feeling himself until I responded with, "I know I do," before walking on.
His expression was like someone in complete shock. People often compliment others just to feel good about themselves or something like that. Of course, I knew I looked beautiful despite my hair because I had already defined what beauty means to me.
Earlier, my coach always helped me understand that beauty is, in essence, much more than just facial appearance.
For me, beauty is so many things. A genius is hotter than the sun in my eyes, and someone with great virtue is exceptionally beautiful to me.
Yes, I am beautiful, and it has little or nothing to do with how I look. Have you experienced me? My beauty flows from within. Me—YHWH's favorite daughter—and someone expects me to be overly excited because he restated a known fact?
Dear reader, coming to the realization of your worth is honestly one of the coolest things ever. Define things for yourself! It's not pride, it's awareness.
Are you aware that you are divinity itself? Are you conscious of what you carry and all that you are?
The trick is to focus more on whose you are rather than who you are presently.
