WHY DO YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU DO?
I read somewhere that the book a girl reads at 13 has a lot to do with how she views the world. I’m biased, very much so.
I now know that half the reason I'm a die-hard feminist is because, at a tender age, I filled my mind with movies and books that painted the male gender as horrific.
But that’s the case for many of us. The things we believe in are often shaped by what we've fed our hearts with beforehand, and often far removed from what we’ve actually experienced.
If you were to engage me in one of these feminist arguments, you might ask, "Who hurt you so badly? What terrible thing have you experienced?"
But in reality, I have no personal experience, just a collection of stories.
Dearest reader, the point is, there's no smoke without fire. Faith is a strong belief in something, and it comes by hearing. Whatever we read or listen to impacts our belief system.
NB: This doesn't make me any less of a feminist; it only just occurred to me where this belief of mine originated from.
