DOUBLE CHECK
"One minute I have money, and the next, I’m a mathematician, scratching my head over where it all disappeared to. Did I really spend that much? Abi I do dey spend extravagantly"
Have you gotten to this point before?
Today was a blur—I was running around all day, with money coming and going. By the end, my account was drained, like it had been hit by a financial storm. At first, I was too tired to worry about it and almost brushed it off as just being exhausted or overthinking. But something wouldn’t let it go, so I grabbed a pen and paper, determined to figure out where my money went.
After a bit of unleashing the mathematician in me, the mystery was solved, and the relief I felt was on par with what Edison must have experienced when his lightbulb finally worked. Who said finding so many Xs during secondary school was useless or had no real life application?
Turns out, I had made a double transfer—thankfully to someone I know. If I had let my fatigue win, I’d have overlooked it, and that money would have been as good as gone. We all know that money is not easy to come by, so recovering that lost cash was a real victory.
The missing money was like an unknown variable, X. I didn’t even realize it was gone at first, just had this nagging feeling to check things over. And thank goodness I did, because it might never have been found.
Dearest reader, don’t succumb to complacency. If the numbers don’t add up, don’t hesitate to double-check. A little effort could save you more than just a headache.
