The 24-Hour Person

“Not a person who says they will be there and not fight for you, it's not a leader that disappears in a time of crisis, they are authentic, consistent, 24 hours a day, someone you can count on no matter what.”

A friend recently introduced me to the concept of a 24-hour person, and it deeply resonated with me. It even led me to download the series "Swagger." The truth is, we all need a 24-hour person in our lives—a person who makes us feel seen, heard, and loved.

Personally, I strive to be that reliable person. My best friend once joked, "If I accidentally commit murder, the first person I'd call is you because, without hesitation, you'd help me bury the body." It's a humorous example, but it speaks to the level of trust we've built.

I’m not one for quick thinking, but if you need something done at the last minute, you can trust that I’ll come through. This stems from my belief in the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I value having people who are there for me, so I make it a priority to be there for others.

Honoring and showing gratitude for the 24-hour people in our lives is crucial. When they're no longer around, they leave behind a void that nothing else can fill.

So, dear reader, the real question isn't just whether you have a 24-hour person in your life, but also whether you are a 24-hour person yourself. Can others rely on you? Are you consistent and trustworthy?

Who is your 24-hour person?

For me, it's my "bubugaga." I remember placing a bet once where I had to call someone who would return my call immediately. Before I could even count to ten, she called me back. That’s the kind of connection a 24-hour person brings into your life.
