YOU FIRST.

"There's no such thing as true love without embracing one's true self," X.

You can neither truly love someone nor be loved by someone if you do not love yourself. The second commandment, "love your neighbor as yourself(Matthew 22:39)", acknowledges that loving others comes from a place of self-love, which means embracing all that a person is.

From my experience as a relationship counselor in secondary school, I have come to understand that 90% of the reason teenage love never works out is because they have yet to embrace and love themselves first. Like the proverbial blind man who fears darkness, they ironically believe they can give what they do not have.

Loving yourself encompasses not only embracing all that you are but also seeing that you develop yourself mentally, emotionally, and intellectually.

If loving someone demands you to let go of the parts that make you, you, then that cannot be love. It becomes chaotic to give what you do not have because, like it or not, what you don't touch can't burn.

Dearest reader, don't let anything hinder you. Love YOU first, and then others, just as much as you love YOU.
