YADA YADA



I just recently learned that the Hebrew Word for know is "Yada", and it's fascinating to me because I've kinda abused that phrase. My most used word of late was, "Yada yada" or "Yen yen yen" and honestly I didn't know what they meant. 

I often use it when I was bored of the details or when I reluctantly agree with something. So, when my coach told me about Yada being an Hebrew word, I was so happy given my love for the Hebrew language. 

From reading about this word Yada, I've come to love the Hebrew language even more. Just like most Hebrew words, the word Yada goes beyond the surface, though, it means 'to know', knowing in hebrew is far differ from what we familiar with. 

Here's what I found; The definition of the term ×™ָדַע (transliterated “yada”), begins with simple acknowledgement of a truth or concept and expands to include acquaintance with, discovery, comprehension, assurance, declaration, intimacy, and even includes sexual intimacy, as in Genesis “when Adam ‘KNEW’ Eve, his wife.”.

The Hebrew perspective to this word is deeper, and broader. However, according to the Merriam Webster English Dictionary the word "Yada yada" means boring or empty talk.

What does this mean? Words are neutral, meaning are ambiguous. Yada yada in Hebrew means to truly know in depth, while in English it means mere boring or empty talk. Same word, different culture crafting different meaning. 

Dearest reader, the Hebrew language has a way of resonating with my heart, I'd be biased if I say it's the sweetest language there is, but Hebrew language ia sweet. What ancient language is your favorite?

TEAM WORK

It can be quite frustrating when a collective effort results in only one person receiving all the praise. Even if my contribution is just 1%, it shouldn’t be overlooked. You never know how these small efforts can make a significant difference. My bubugaga is back from school, and today we did a lot of tidying up. It’s amazing how I suddenly find the energy to work when she's around, despite my usual laziness. After completing so much work, we took a break—we were honestly worn out. Fast forward to the end of the day: everyone applauded her for a job well done, as though it was solely her effort. It felt off because I felt I deserved some recognition too—it was teamwork, after all. So, the point is, you never know how hurtful it can be when someone's effort goes unacknowledged.
