THE GOOD IN YOU!

I was watching a podcast today where the guest speaker, among other things, talked about loving oneself. He asked how many of us could praise ourselves for two minutes straight.

You know, two minutes is not a lot of time. If we begin to look at our flaws, two minutes will not be enough time to describe them. So, I began asking everyone I came across today to praise themselves for two minutes. Most people didn't even attempt it; others did but ran out of good words to say about themselves, as though they were forcing themselves to believe a lie.

I realized that people are unable to truly praise themselves and acknowledge their beauty and abilities as readily as they point out their imperfections. Mind you, there's a thin line between acknowledging self-worth and being boastful, and we tend to misunderstand it.

It's not pride to see the good in ourselves. I look at myself sometimes and think, "God finished work on this one, see my billion-dollar smile." I didn't attempt the two-minute exercise of praising myself because I know I'd get lost in words trying to describe this intricate yet amazing individual that I am. Yes! I'm bragging 🤣

The point is, you can't give what you don't have. I can't love you if I loathe myself; that would be hypocrisy. Love yourself, look at yourself, and see awesomeness.

Dearest reader, I'd like you to praise yourself for two minutes without including any verses from the Bible or repeating yourself. Try it and let me know how it goes.
